CFA Kittens - Your Ticket to Well Bred Cats

Being the largest database of pedigree cats, the CFA is an acronym for Cat Fancier's Association and aims at promoting and preserving the rights of cats, and to ensure that you have the credibility to breed certain cats. They also improve the general well-being of cats with their activities. If you wish to expose cute kittens to cat shows in the future, and want to be recognized for it, then it is a prerequisite for most shows that you register them through CFA to gain authenticity for the entry.

So how does one get started? Well, you should first approach a CFA approved dealer. To register your kitten you will be asked to fill a blue slip consisting of four sections, namely A, B, C, D. "What's in a name?" doesn't help here. Finding an imaginative name for your lovable kitten is not all that easy. Both the call name, which is the cute name you give to your cat, and the surname must not exceed thirty five characters in total. This is what you will give in the first section of the blue slip using the syntax 'call name of surname'. The other sections do not involve any effort; the third one asks for your personal details like name and address, while the rest are filled out by the breeder.

Breeding rights is another important aspect to be carefully dealt with. Only if you have the breeding rights of the kitten can your kitten's offspring be registered with the CFA. Having a pin inside the red box on the blue slip you filled means that you have the breeding rights. Without this pin the rights to breed will automatically be revoked. Watch out for the pin as your breeder is supposed to provide this item for you.
